DPO Allegedly Assalts Mercy, Strips Her Naked and Also Arrests Her Widowed Mother

A 20-year-old girl, Mercy Okoro and her 19y/o sister, have been assaulted and stripped naked by a Delta State Divisional Police Officer (DPO) identified as SP Asanayin Ibok over dispute with a tenant in Warri.

It was gathered that a tenant simply identified as Andrew Obas was owing them about three months rent and they had told him that if he was given only 4 months to pay us. She explained further that Obas payment grace ended this January and they had asked him to move but instead of adhering to their warnings, the tenants go ahead to being armed security operative to come attack them.

According to Mercy, she said the DPO, Ibok unlawfully arrestee her widowed mother and younger sister and also when ahead to assault her also, giving an account of the policemen shooting repeatedly and started beating she and her sister while the had been stripped naked.

She said;

“They bundled my sister and I into their patrol van and took us to the Police Station. I never knew it was the DPO at first. He asked if we were the people causing ‘wahala’? So I asked my mother to join us in the cell. That was when he slapped me until I fell on the ground and fainted”

When Mercy’s mother, Mrs Lucy Okoro was asked about her ordeal, she kept pleading thy the giver come to her rescue as she is tired of been oppressed by policemen and her tenants. She asked that Human Right Organizations come to her aid and that of her family.

However, when the Ekpan Divisional Police Officer, SP Ibok Asanenyi was contacted on the matter, he said he wasn’t never at the venue of the assault and he knows nothing about it.

These family was however tagged liars and everything they had reported was denied and ruled out not to have happened.

It is really sad that families have to go through these and those security operatives who are meant to protect them are the ones used against them.
