COURT RESTRAINS BUHARI, AGF, FROM REMOVING CJN
At the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on
Monday, restrained President Muhammadu Buhari and AGF from removing
the CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen.
The restraining order was granted by Justice
Inyang Ekwo, during the hearing and determination of the suit filed by Action
Peoples Party.
Recall that the Federal Government through the
Code of Conduct Bureau filed six counts of non-declaration of assets against
the CJN on Friday.
The court adjourned the hearing of the motion on
notice to the 29th of January with an order to parties to maintain the status
quo ante.
The
Federal High Court in Abuja had previously stopped the Federal Government from
proceeding with the arraignment of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice
Walter Onnoghen, before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
