FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE, MAKURDI (FUAM) YET TO BE REOPENED AS JOINT STRIKE OF NON-ACADEMIC STAFF UNIONS CONTINUES.
The Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (FUAM) still remains closed as the nationwide joint strike action of non-Academic staff of Nigerian Universities endures.
This information was confirmed by campus Gist Newspaper who spoke with key members of the University Administration who confirmed the inability of students to resume after the Yuletide as a function of the strike action which has grounded important aspects of service delivery at various levels in the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (FUAM) making it difficult for any meaningful academic activity to be sustained on campus especially in the absence of constant electricity and water supply.
The Striking Unions are requesting that the Federal government attends to their demands which occasioned the beginning of the strike action in the final quarter of last year (2017).

Responding to the agitation of students for the reopening of the University campus, the Prof. A.R. Kimbir led Administration sympathized with the Students on the negative effects this unfortunate eventuality, has caused them and the University at various levels and reiterates his devotion to exploring every possible option to reopen the University and welcome students back for academic activities.
He has also added that Students while at home should remember to pray for a quick resolution of the pending strike action, as it will chart a brighter way forward for the University and the education of the Nigerian Child at large.
The Striking unions are bid to meet on Monday, 8th January, 2018 where deliberations would be held with respect to the strike.

Nigerian University Students are hopeful that this meeting produces an expected result and Nigerian students are relieved of the challenges they are currently undergoing due to their prolonged stay at home or incomplete functionality of Universities.
